The much talked about 20,000 ton petrol stocks has been removed from the
market and a new stock has been issued for public use, Petroleum
Ministry officials told Daily Mirror online
The Ministry added that the public could use the newly issued
consignment without any fear and that fuel distribution was successfully
taking place Island wide.
Further releasing a statement the Petroleum Ministry stated that under
the directions of Petroleum Industries Minister Susil Premajayantha the
newly imported petrol consignment was distributed island wide and the
remaining petrol of the old consignment was removed from the refilling
stations and brought back to the Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals
Limited (CPSTL) for testing.

De Zoysa stated that the CPSTL supplied fuel to the CPC as well as the
LIOC and that the new fuel consignment had been distributed to both
parties.
The Chairman has also noted that the newly imported fuel stock was
distributed after carrying out special tests to ascertain its quality
and no fuel shortage existed in the market
