Vehicle imports and new registrations in Sri Lanka have risen in an outstanding level during the last few months. As per the Central Bank stats, Car imports, trishaw imports and motorcycle imports have risen from 62 percent, 30 percent and 18 percent respectively, during the month of August.
Similarly, new motorcycle registrations are up with 25.3 percent, trishaws up with 62.3 percent and motor cars with 446.3 percent, totaling a 53.3 percent rise in new vehicle registrations. According to the data, Sri Lanka has sighted an increase of vehicle imports as well due to the deduction of import taxes.
