TOKYO – An auto industry group says Toyota´s Prius ranked as Japan´s top-selling car in October for the 18th straight month even as the number sold fell due to green car incentives expiring.
The Japan Automobile Dealers Association said Honda Motor Co.´s energy-efficient Fit compact car came in second, with 14,034 vehicles sold last month.
Toyota Motor Corp., the world´s largest automaker, sold 21,769 Prius cars in October, down 19.1 percent year-on-year, the association said.
The fall in Prius sales was due to the termination of government subsidies for eco-friendly cars, it said.
