Bus operators to protest if govt. fails to respond

There has been no response so far from the government to the request for a fuel subsidy for bus operators, who have been adversely affected by the recent fuel price hike, the Sri Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association said.

President of the association Gemunu Wijeratne declared that if a positive reply from the government is not received by today (Nov 12) they would resort to island-wide protests.

He noted that the director board of the Private Bus Owners’ Association will gather tomorrow to discuss the path which would be taken and as to how they would execute their protest.
