Three kids serious


A lorry transporting coconuts ran into three young children aged between 10-12 in Daluwa this evening, seriously injuring all three of them.

The three children were waiting for a bus along the Puttalam-Kalpitiya road in Daluwa to return home after Sunday school when the lorry veered off the road and ran into them.

According to the police the children were rushed to the Puttalam hospital by onlookers and will be transferred to Colombo for further treatment as their condition was serious.

Meanwhile the driver of the lorry had fled the area following the accident as some angry onlookers attempted to set fire to the lorry.

A tense situation also arose between the onlookers and the police following the accident.
